P90X, Day 7 — X Stretch

Even though the P90X plan­ner lists every sev­enth day as either X Stretch or rest, I elect to go with X Stretch. One of the things I’ve learned since start­ing my first round of P90X last year is the impor­tance of stretching.

P90X X StretchI’ll be hon­est and say I never saw how impor­tant stretch­ing is, well actu­ally stretch­ing to this extent. When I would hit the weight room in high school and col­lege and when I joined the local gym later, I would hit the exer­cise bike or tread­mill for 10 min­utes to warm up then it would be off to the weights.

Now X Stretch, incor­po­rates some of the tech­niques of Yoga X, and of course some of the stretches from the warmups of the other rou­tines, but is nowhere near as intense. It will get the blood flow­ing and get you sweat­ing. I think it’s a great rou­tine for those that may not have taken stretch­ing as seri­ously as they should have in the past, like me. It’s also a nice light rou­tine that will help with the sore­ness you just might be feel­ing from your first week of P90X.
