P90X, Day 30 — Back to Plyometrics

P90X PlyometricsDuring the first three weeks of this round of P90X, I had seen some small, steady gains with Plyometrics, even though I’ve never finished the entire routine. This morning I was a little curious to see how my improvements would look after a week with no Plyometrics. Well, I’m still not able to complete an entire Plyo workout, but I’m getting closer. I’m slowly getting further into the workout. When I did Plyometrics for the first time last year, I was able to barely last 15 minutes, including the warmup. I’m now able to last about 3 times as long. It still kicks my ass, but not as much as before.

I can’t stress enough how these small gains and wins are keeping me motivated. It’s preventing me from becoming frustrated like the last time through P90X. I got so frustrated with Plyometrics last year that I would dread it and at one point would substitute it with other workouts at times. To those that are getting frustrated with Plyometrics, unless you are really out of shape and need to work your way up to it, keep working on this routine. It takes time. Trust me, I’ve been there, and in some ways, still there. Let’s face it, they told us P90X was going to be hard. You need find ways to keep Bringing It.

On another note, I’m a third of the way through P90X and weighed myself this morning. I’m down 10 pounds so far. Considering the muscle that I can feel that I’ve put on, I’ll take that as a win.
